With graduation right around the corner, Missouri Western decided to start a new tradition for students to pick up their caps and gowns: Grad Fest.

Previously, students picked up their graduation attire from the bookstore. The Commencement Committee decided to make the process a little more exciting for soon-to-be graduates, and created a mini-festival, complete with a photo area, cookies, and several tables from various departments with information and goodies for the students.

Tables included information from the Career Development Center, supplies for students to decorate their caps, alumni license plate covers, yearbooks, and much more. There were free give-aways and contests along with important items to pick up, like honor cords.

With the sunshine and music out in the Kelley Commons, Grad Fest was a nice place for students to celebrate their achievements and get excited for graduation. This new tradition is a nice way for Missouri Western to support the students, especially during a time of low student morale because of the pandemic.

While graduation tickets are limited, it will take place on May 8 in two sessions, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the football field, weather permitting. Congratulations to the class of 2021!
