On Tuesday, December 6, Dr. Laura K Reynolds accepted Missouri Western State University’s offer to become the next Provost and Vice president of Academic Affairs.

The news arrived to students in an email from the President’s Office with Dr. Kennedy sharing the news of Dr. Reynolds new position in the university. Dr. Reynolds previously served as the Dean of the School of Education, Human Performance and Health at the University of South Carolina Upstate as well as having worked in administration at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

In the email Dr. Kennedy outlines her confidence in Dr. Reynold’s abilities and what she expects from her during her time in the role.

“I am confident that Laura’s combination of experience, skills and enthusiasm will be a tremendous asset for Missouri Western as she leads Academic Affairs.” Dr. Kennedy said. “She will ably lead the implementation of our new Master Academic Plan and Academic Program Review, will expand our commitment to our applied learning mission, and will help us identify programs and strategies to continue meeting the workforce needs of the region we serve.”

On Missouri Western’s website Dr. Reynolds is listed to begin her time as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs on July 5,2022. The website lists the responsibilities of the position as chief academic officer that oversees the College of Business and Professional Studies, College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Health, Graduate School, and a number of academic support units.

Interim Vice Provost Dr. Elise Hepworth had the following statement to say about Dr. Reynolds.

"Dr. Reynolds possesses all the best attributes which will make her a successful Provost and leader at Missouri Western. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience and demonstrated during her interview that she has a deep desire to serve our university community. I am thrilled she will be joining the Griffon Family and look forward to her arrival."

Dr. Reynolds will be filling the role from the current Interim Provost, Dr. Marc Mananaro. Dr. Mananaro took the position July 1, following Doug Davenport’s departure into retirement. In a quote on the Missouri Western website Dr. Reynolds had the following to say.

The faculty and staff at MWSU are passionate about the students and community they serve, and the impact on students is evident.” Dr. Reynolds said. “I believe the applied learning mission of Missouri Western, combined with the commitment of faculty and staff and excellent strategic and academic planning create even greater opportunities to support the success of students.”
