Oh boy, I know this topic will get a lot of backlash, and I'm here for it. I can wholeheartedly say that without a doubt that the Kansas City Chiefs are an overrated football team and a failed dynasty; yes, you read that correctly. The Chiefs have been figured out and exposed as frauds during this season, and their quote on quote “kingdom” is burning to the ground. I can’t be surprised; I called them out four years ago, and it looks like I was right.
Where does one start about the Chiefs? Obviously, you start at the centerpiece, and that centerpiece is Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes is arguably the second-best quarterback behind the goat in Tom Brady whose in Tampa Bay. Yet, Mahomes has struggled this season with a league-leading ten interceptions and his lowest QBR rating ever with a terrible rate of 56.7. Patrick has been letting off-the-field distractions impact his game. Whether it is his wife tweeting complaints about the refs or telling Chiefs fans to shut up when they disagree with her, or his brother, the infamous Jackson Mahomes, doing his tik-tok dances on a memorial that was chained off in memorial of former Washington football member Sean Taylor who was murdered back in 2004. The Patriots, Steelers, and Cowboys dynasties never had this distraction because they had family members who didn't let their off-the-field antics affect their relatives on the team.
Next up is the Chiefs' defense. It's a disaster, and nobody looks like they know what's going on. The team has shown minimal effort throughout the first eight weeks of the NFL season—allowing 30 rushing touchdowns for a third-worst in the league next to the Texans and Jets. Injuries and players leaving are a part of the game, but players need to step up if you want to be a dynasty. Steve Spagnuolo, the defensive coordinator, has been outcoached and outperformed by offenses. He's been figured out since day 1, but the Chiefs constantly rely on their offense, allowing his flaws to be overshadowed by Mahomes' gunslinging success.
Oh, and Chief fans, I haven't forgotten about you either. Fans play a big part of a dynasty, too, as the players—one of the most toxic fanbases I've ever seen. You don't have the right to boast like you're the best franchise ever to touch the field after being so horrible for so long.
Don't believe me; Chiefs fans are toxic? How about Tyrann Mathieu, the Chief's safety, who stated, "Big facts. This might be one of the most toxic fan bases in all of sports."
Anthony Hitchens, linebacker for the Chiefs, chimed in as well, "All we did was go to 3 AFC champions games and 2 Super Bowls and 1 SB win...In my first 3 years here so far!! Y'all fans will never be satisfied it's sad."
Adding onto the toxic fanbase, fights in Arrowhead have been increasing at home. Over the last two home games, fights have taken place in the stands between two superfans apparently and caused it to spread. It's embarrassing. I know fans can be toxic, but you have to hold yourself to a higher standard, and you can't be fighting with fans of the same team.
I'm not trying to bash on the Chiefs too much, but it's got to be addressed that there's a problem—the Chiefs have given Kansas City and Saint Joseph, Missouri many good memories over the last five years. I've seen how prideful people are for The Chiefs, and it makes me smile. We need people to have pride in their team, especially with what's happening in the world around us. However, The Chiefs in 2021 are 4-4, arguably should be 1-7. This is not how a dynasty looks, a dynasty looks dominant and robust, and the Chiefs look vulnerable. The Chiefs Kingdom is burning; it's time to fix it, or otherwise, the Kingdom will be a ghost tale for future dynasties to avoid making the same mistakes.
Now, watch the Chiefs go undefeated the rest of the season and win The Super Bowl after this article gets published. In advance, Chiefs Fans, you're welcome.
