The basketball season is in full swing, and the Missouri Western Griffons are on fire. Both the men’s and the women’s teams are dominating so far this season. The women’s team started out strong and undefeated while the men’s team had a slower start; however, both teams are driving ahead full speed as the season continues.
The men’s team is on a four-game win streak and is sitting at 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The men’s team has made great progress in the last few games. Comeback wins, big plays and a great defense have helped the Griffons archive a solid winning streak.
Sophomore Reese Glover is proving to be a solid contributor on this team. He has been a leader in points in several games and had some key shots to help the Griffons in second half comebacks for the win. Glover is not alone; Junior Caleb Bennett, sophomore Jaron Thames and sophomore Will Eames have all been big contributors in the Griffon's success so far this season.
The players mentioned above have all been points leaders in the last several games and are helping the Griffons advance at a great pace. While some of the last few games were a 10 point lead or less there have been a couple of games with more than a 15 point deficit.
The Griffon Men still have their work cut out as there is a lot of basketball left However the team is working well together and playing strong. The Griffons are on the road this week heading to Jefferson City to take on the Lincoln Blue cats.
The women’s team season is dominating; they are still undefeated with a 6-0 overall record and a 2-0 conference record. The Griffon Women have proven this season so far that they are here to play. Starting the first MIAA game with an 83-58 win over Rodgers State, They have had some big wins this season so far.
Some of the big points leaders this season so far for the Women are Junior Connie Clark, Senior Corbyn Cunningham and, Brionna Budgets have all contributed in major ways so far Season with being huge point leaders in several of the games. These 3 ladies are in the top team leaderboard in scoring this season so far.
Both Teams will Have to play hard to keep the hot streak alive, However for now it looks to be safe we will see if the Griffons Basketball teams Both Men and Women’s teams can keep the hot streak up.
