No. 5 Missouri Western Tennis moves on to day two in the Central Regional #1 after defeating No. 4 Harding 4-0.
Missouri Western got their doubles point with two 6-1 clinches. Griffons Esther Güemes and Claudia Iglesias took down Bronchos Lindy Carpenter and Romane Britt. The second match win came when Ioanna Lathouri and Anais Peralta took down Emily Carpenter and Allison Jenkins.
The first singles point came from the match up of Anya Chavez and Grace Dodd. Dodd retired from the match due to injury, which then gave Chavez the win by default and Missouri Western its second point.
Peralta won her singles match against Lindy Carpenter with a 6-3 set one and a 6-2 set two.
Nicole Donnelly helped send Harding home in her win against Allison Carpenter. Donnelly won her first set 6-3 and second set 6-1.
Tomorrow they'll play MIAA Conference foe University of Central Oklahoma, who currently is No. 1 with their 16-1 record.
The Bronchos bested the Griffons in their two previous match ups this season.
They were swept by Central Oklahoma on April 9th in the regular season in St Joseph and May 9th in the MIAA Tournament in Edmond, Oklahoma.
The Bronchos had home court advantage in that match up as they will again tomorrow. This highly anticipated rematch is expected to begin at 10 am.
